Product Review: Rodan and Fields
For years I have been using the same skincare range (Dermalogica) and loved it however, when your bestie asks you to trial a skincare range she believes in…you do it! I hadn’t heard of the brand Rodan and Fields (R+F) previously, and for good reason. Even though Rodan and Fields skincare has been around since 2007, it hadn’t been introduced to the Australian market until 2017. Well, after months of using this product during and post pregnancy I thought I would provide my honest review.
Rodan and Fields was founded by world renowned dermatologists Dr Katie Rodan and Dr Kathy Fields in 2007, the same individuals who created Proactiv. There are multiple lines in the Rodan and Fields range to choose from according to your skincare needs. I have been using the Redefine regimen, for the appearance of lines, pores and loss of firmness since December 2017. Included in the pack is a Daily Cleansing Mask, a Pore Minimising Toner, a Triple Defence Treatment and an Overnight Restorative Cream. This range is completely safe to use during pregnancy and breastfeeding. When pregnant there are certain ingredients you shouldn’t use on your skin, something a lot of women don’t think to check! If you are pregnant I highly recommend ensuring your current skincare regime is safe to use.
I started using the R+F range in my first trimester while pregnant with Vinnie, a time in which hormones are running wild and your skin is adjusting to the changes in your body. I was advised to use the product day and night. It’s a 3 step process of simply cleansing, toning and moisturising. The only real difference with the Rodan and Fields cleansing process is that it is a cleansing mask. After applying the cleansing mask, you allow the cleanser to dry for at least 2 minutes before rinsing. With cleansers, most people are used to liquid, soapy like lather however the R+F cleanser is more pasty and grainy with a slight exfoliating factor. The regime is perfect for those who are time poor. I simply pop on the cleanser before I jump in the shower thentone and moisturise once I’m out.
What I like about R+F is that a little goes a long way. As I said, I started using this product in my first trimester with Vinnie; well he is now 7 weeks old and I am still using that same product. The initial investment of $272 may be a deterrent in purchasing this range however it’s certainly value for money! The day and night moisturiser that is included are smooth and light, they do not have a strong scent and do not leave my skin feeling greasy. I believe the use of the toner has significantly reduced redness in my face, particularly around my nose. All in all, I’m pretty happy with this range.
If you are looking for a new skin care range I would recommend giving R+F a try. Mel from R+F is happy to send out samples, the samples alone will be enough to get you hooked. When trying this range all I can say is give your skin some time to adjust! I started using these products at a time in which my hormones were crazy and my skin was a little more temperamental than usual. It took about 4 weeks for it to fully adjust and reap the benefits. I didn’t have acne prone skin prior to using Rodan and Fields, I did however get those nasty blind pimples every month or so on my forehead…well I can’t even remember the last time I had one so it must be doing something right!
My must buy product from this range is the Micro-Dermabrasion Paste. The Micro-Dermabrasion Paste retails for $109 but once again, a little goes a long way. I guarantee that every time you use this paste it will feel like you just stepped out of a beauty salon! It’s a gentle exfoliator with Vitamins C and E and leaves my skin feeling almost as smooth as Vinnie’s…I absolutely love it!
I plan on continuing to use this range alongside my Dermalogica products. I personally prefer to use a more traditional cleanser to wash off my makeup which is why I will continue to use the Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel however, I will finish my regimen with the R+F products.

My Wardrobe Staples.
My style is minimalistic. I very rarely stray from the black, white and grey palette. I find that if you keep pieces you invest in plain, you can get away with wearing them often. These days I can’t help but splurge on clothes for Myla rather than myself so when I buy something, it has to be versatile and last!
1. The white T
I’m a big fan of a white plain or slogan T. Its quick to throw on and pair with any denim in your wardrobe. I find that when you don’t have endless amounts of money in your bank account a white T is your saviour. My favourites include my white Calvin Klein T; I got it from DFO in Brisbane (on sale) for $39.95.

2. Denim everythingggg
Good quality denim not only fits better but can last years in your wardrobe. If you are strapped for cash there are so many cheap alternatives on the market. ASOS, Kmart, The Iconic and Target are some of my favourite bargain stores. What I love about online shopping is that there is almost always an online discount code floating around. When I want to invest in a good pair of jeans ‘Nobody’ is my go to brand. I love the fit and find that they aren’t too short in the leg. At the moment they have 25% off all full priced items; click HERE to shop.

3. A Cardigan
I fell in love with this two tone French Connection cardy when we went to Sydney earlier this year. I was budgeting so I decided not to splurge ($149.95 for a cardy IS a splurge haha). Well; hubby won some serious brownie points when he went to Sydney for work and came home with it in tow. It’s now on sale for $99.95. I know its warming up, but I have the blood of a reptile and still wear cardys in Spring, especially in the AC.

4. Converse All Stars
Who doesn’t own a pair of white connies? Even Myla does! They are comfy AF, and if you’re worried about them getting dirty, they aren’t hard to wash. SHOP them here.

5. Slip ons
I am obsessed with slip ons, purely because I am lazy AF and most days cant be effed bending down and tieing my shoe laces (yes, I’m that person). I blame the Kardashians for my obsession with these Adidas sliders. At $40, they wont break the bank. If however these aren’t your thing, I’m a big fan of my Fawn and Finch Eldorados.

Designer Cross Body Bag
This is a wardrobe staple that I WISH I had. I thought I’d chuck this in as a hint to the hubby when he reads this. Somehow I doubt the $1,500 price tag that Prada and Gucci carry is going to work in my favour. Cheaper alternative? This tde bag is a pretty cute alternative, and who doesn’t love a personalised accessory?. #MustWinLotto

My Style Secret:
SSsshhh don’t tell anyone, but; if I have a special occasion coming up and have nothing to wear I use @hiremystyle_ on Instagram. Their prices include delivery, return express postage and dry cleaning. I hired this beautiful red Steele dress for a wedding for $80. How many times have you bought a dress for an occasion and only worn it once or twice because everyone you know goes to the same events? Hiring saves my life and my bank account.
